What Is An Air Cooled Screw Chiller & How Does It Work?

Air Cooled Screw Chiller is a closed refrigerating system used for cooling as well as dehumidifying the air of the surrounding. Working on the very basic principles of evaporation and condensation, Air Cooled Chillers are extensively being used in both commercials as well as Industrial setups. These Air cooled Screw chillers are not only highly energy efficient but also available in various designs and models, which gives optimum choice to the consumers to opt for the best suited Air Cooled Chillers for there respective professional set up. From the most popular Hotels, Restaurants, Corporate Offices, Manufacturing plants, huge construction site, any kind of Corporate or Sporting events, these highly efficient, compact and user-friendly AC Cooled Chillers are being used. They are high in demand and are advantageous for any infrastructure.

Structure:

A unit of the closed system of Air Cooled Screw Chiller consists of a device called evaporator. Evaporator has various tubes which surround and covers the central chamber. These tubes are responsible to surround the material meant to be cooled by the chiller. This central chamber is then connected to the compressor, the most important element of the overall cooling function. Then this compressor (Screw Compressor) connects to the condenser which is then connected to the evaporator. This is the basic element and structure of an Air Cooled Screw Chiller unit.

Types of Air Cooler Screw Chillers:

There are basically two types of Air Cooler Screw Chillers:

Stationary Air Cooled Chillers: These Air Cooled Chillers as the name suggests are used by the units where heat is not an issue. Mostly all the big industries ex: Hotel industry, manufacturing plants etc., use this kind of chillers.

Portable Air Cooled Chillers: These portable Air Cooled Chillers are good as stationary ones with an additional benefit of being able to easily move from place to other.

How does an Air Cooler Screw Chiller operate?

An Air Cooled Screw Chiller primarily functions by way of flowing a refrigerant over an evaporated bundle of tubes. The process initiate from the evaporator, CCMT Insert which contains the liquid refrigerant. This refrigerant radiates the cold out to the surrounding with the help of the tubes which are filled with water. The water is then chilled and pumped with the help of a circuit. At the same time, the chiller is cooled by way of absorbing heat from other items. Now, when the water reaches enough high temperature, it starts radiating the heat back to the refrigerant in the evaporator, resulting in vapours. This vapour is then made to pass through the compressor with the help of a pipe. In this case, it is Rotary Screw Compressor, a type of gas compressor which works on the basis of the Rotary Positive Displacement Mechanism. This is the most modern and safest method of compression fondly used these days. The compressor puts the vapour under high pressure and heat in a small space. At this VBMT Insert stage, the vapours have turned into the extremely heated vaporized refrigerant, which is then pumped through the condenser. The condenser is a system of tubes where the vapour gives off the heat into the surrounding air and then turns back into liquid. The refrigerant passes through an expansion device, it lowers its temperature and to complete the cycle the liquid again goes back into the evaporator to repeat the chilling process.

This kind of Air Cooled Chillers is predominantly used in commercial and industrial set ups. They have also become extremely popular amongst various professional settings. The big corporate houses, they have there own Air conditioning units. In order to cater the needs and meet the market demands various industrial air-cooled chiller manufacturers have emerged. All big names of the Air Conditioning companies like Voltas, LG, Carrier etc have taken a step ahead and have started there own manufacturing unit of Air Cooled Chillers as well as AC cooling coils also known as Heat Exchange Coils. Catering to the demands of their clients and giving them the desired services, these manufacturers need to be updated about every new invention and its utility in their sphere of specialization.
