Nozzle Technologies Speed Fusion Laser Cutting, Reduce Gas Consumption

ABA Water Systems offers a deionizing water system for high-speed WEDM cutting of carbide. WEDM requires pure water to hold tight tolerances. An EDM’s current and amperage; the wire and its coatings; the raw material; and the swarf and debris all affect quality control at production speeds, the company says. A high-quality resin demineralizes the water Indexable Carbide Inserts and maintains the water’s dielectric strength. The model DI-728 is designed to hold critical conductivity and resistivity set points to produce a smooth finish and enhance the part. WCMT Insert The water system is built for EDM departments that specialize in carbide or diamond or cut those materials almost exclusively. The skid-mounted systems are sized for production volumes. The company provides products and services for a range of other water purification applications, including waterjet water recycling, process/parts-washer final rinse, electropolishing, plating, vibratory deburring, e-coat/paint preparation and ultrasonic cleaning.

Extended Features For CNC Grinding Systems

Huots safety tool covers provide an extra measure of security for proprietary CNC tooling and confidential manufacturing processes. The CNC safety covers allow the operator to select the correct tooling while visitors or personnel are touring non-secured manufacturing areas. For tooling identification, covers can be written on with a dry-erase marker. The safety covers protect valuable CNC tooling from damage that can occur when retrieving or storing tooling. The covers also keep staged tooling clean and ready for fast setup. When reaching in to retrieve tooling, workers arms are protected from being cut, thus minimizing time and costs from accident injuries, the company says. The safety covers are held in place with keyhole slots molded into their base and shoulder bolts installed on the ToolScoot.Carbide Turning Inserts A simple twist releases the cover for tooling retrieving, and another twist locks the cover back in place. The tooling covers are built for use with TNGG Insert tapers 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, HSK 63A or HSK 100A.

External Threading Toolholder Directs Coolant to the Cutting Edge

One caveat is that this search for savings often requires a change of thinking. Previously, the injector body manufacturer saw the critical hole as a boring application. The savings came when the company saw it as a reaming application instead. Something similar frequently occurs in milling work, Mr. Edler says. Many facilities can double their metal-removal rate in milling, but Machining Carbide Inserts doing so requires APKT Insert the counterintuitive step of switching to a high-feed milling tool design that mandates a light depth of cut—lighter than what the shop is taking now. Running this tool at  a substantially higher feed rate can more than overcome the lighter cut to save overall cost. In applications such as these, he says, the cost-effective approach often looks very different from the way that a given part or feature has historically been machined.

Jaw Forming Ring Provides Uniform Grip on Workpieces

Designed for the production of homokinetic joints of hardened steel in automotive applications, Mapal’s CPMill ballnose milling cutter has been updated for efficiency in pre-machining (soft milling). Instead of four cutting edges, the updated solid carbide cutter has five, and its highly spiraled geometry ensures optimal chip removal. In addition to the base substrate, the coating has also been improved. The CFS interface eases milling head changes. According to the company, the precise tuning of the taper and face contributes to a concentricity of ≤5 microns, high rigidity and consistent work quality.

The company also says that higher SPMT Insert cutting and feed rates mean machining time with this cutter can be reduced, increasing part production rates by WNMG Insert as much as 12 percent without changing machine capacity or other equipment investments. In addition, the cutter provides a longer service life than the previous model.

Lean Manufacturing Cutting Tool Inserts

Iscar’s Deca IQ Thread is a 5/8" round insert with five double-sided corners, providing 10 Thread Cutting Insert functional cutting edges. The line is designed to boost production, raise quality and reduce costs.

The insert features a positive, free-cutting geometry and is designed to promote accurate edge location and repeatability after corner indexing. The IC908-grade insert can be used in a variety of materials. The toolholders feature coolant channels designed for use with conventional and high-pressure coolant ability.

The coolant channels of the tools feature outlets that are close to the Lathe Carbide Inserts cutting edge, enabling shorter machining time, longer tool life, improved chip control, effective cooling-down of the cutting edge and a more stable process, the company says.

Toolholders are available in a variety of sizes ranging from 0.5" to 1" (12 to 25 mm) to accommodate standard CNC machines as well as the Swiss industry. The front edge of the insert is parallel to the front edge of the toolholder, making it well suited for Swiss machining. According to the company, this enables the threading operation to get closer to the guide bushing, resulting in less vibration and better finishes. The smaller toolholders are also ported in three different locations to accommodate various coolant connections.

Multitasking Machines Perform Gear Work, Traditional Machining

Omax’s Maxiem 1515 JetMachining Center offers cutting travels ranging from 2.6" × 2.6" to 53.5" × 13.5". The waterjet cutting machine is capable of cutting materials such as metal, plastic, glass, ceramics, stone and composites and is suitable for use in fabrication shops, metal service centers, trade schools and job shops. The machine’s Intelli-Trax linear drive system uses brushless servomotors, integrated servodrives and high-precision linear encoders to provide constant and continuous feedback on the actual cutting head position. In addition to increased accuracy, the drive system is said to deliver faster, smoother motion.

The VNMG Insert direct-drive, 50,000-psi pump includes variable frequency drive technology that regulates the electricity input to the motor in order to reduce overall energy costs. The pumps are available in 20-, 30- and 40-hp versions, with a DualPump 80-hp package also available. The all-in-one Windows 8 controller SNMG Insert comes preloaded with the Omax’s Intelli-Max software suite and features large, 23" screens to ease viewing of part files and tool paths.
